Queensland's largest and fastest growing suburb is right at our doorstep
Pimpama is Queensland’s largest and fastest growing suburb. During the 2016-17 financial year, the Gold Coast suburb’s population grew by 30.8 per cent (3000 people) and had $352 million worth of residential properties approved during the 2016-17 financial year. Furthermore, net internal migration accounted for 90 per cent of population change.
Pimpama came in as the third fastest growing suburb in Australia, behind Yuroke in Melbourne and Coombs in the ACT. Pimpama is expected to become the nation’s fastest growing suburb.
The suburb made the list of the nation’s 20 strongest markets. An area qualifies as a hotspot if at least $150 million worth of residential building work was approved during a financial year and its rate of population growth was faster than the national average.
Pimpama’s locality makes both Brisbane and the Gold Coast CBD’s an easy commute.
Residential developments in the area, such as Gainsborough Greens, are attracting homeowners seeking open space, park facilities and a strong sense of community.
Pimpama’s population though is growing at an unsustainable rate. The growth of the suburb reflects where land and supply on the Gold Coast is currently.
The Gold Coast is one of Australia’s fastest growing regions, with its population expected to reach 820,000 by 2035. Although the Gold Coast will continue to grow, the population growth of Pimpama at 30.8 per cent annually exceptionally exceeds the region’s annual growth rate of 1.28 – 2.25 per cent.
