Most searched key words of 2018

realestate.com.au revealed their most searched real estate words on their website in 2018.

 

Some of these words won’t come as a surprise, as they are characteristics that strongly appeal to buyers.

 

1.     Pool

Having a pool is very, very cool in Australia. ‘Pool’ was the most typed-in keyword in 2018 during realestate.con.au property searches.

 

Although the maintenance costs of a pool can be up there, there is nothing that quite beats a swim after a hot summer’s day, especially in south-east Queensland.

 

The Johnson Group sold some magnificent properties with pools in 2018, like this one at 3 Waterside Drive, Springfield Lakes.

 2.     Garage

Off-street parking is a huge selling point for a buyer. It comes as no surprise that people want to keep their vehicles as safe and sound as possible.

 

Garage’ scored 311,292 searches in 2018.

 

3.     Waterfront

‘Waterfront’ was the third most popular keyword in 2018 with 230,016 searches.

 

4.     Views

A home with a view is another very important factor for home buyers, racking up 221,133 searches in 2018.

 5.     Granny Flat

‘Granny flat’ raked in 187,113 searches in 2018. Turns out that people want an independent space off the house. Granny flats are great for older children who just aren’t ready to leave the more free-flowing cash situation that living at home allows. Maybe it serves as the perfect man cave or extra office.

 

6.     Beach

‘Beach’ rolled in with 147,738 searches in 2018.

 7.     New

Buyers are interested in new homes, with ‘new’ attracting 113,409 searches.

 

8.     Shed

‘Shed’ raked in 113,101 searches. The additional space away from the house where tools, gardening equipment, camping goods and the kids old school books can be stored is popular among buyers.

 

The Logan West team sold a cosy cottage fitted with a shed at 5 Harmony Court, Browns Plains last year.

 9.     Air conditioning

It comes as no surprise that hot Australian summers contributed to ‘air conditioning’ being searched 109,006 times in 2018. The humid environment of south-east Queensland makes air-conditioning very popular in the region.

 

10. Water views

Who doesn’t want to live by the water? Those inviting views were actively sought by buyers in 2018. 103,710 searches were made for ‘water views in 2018’.
